No macro lens canon s95 compact point and shoot, need to get an SLR and macro lens so i can take pictures of beetles and stuff. Any ideas or is there a compact camera that is really good at macro pictures ?
Hi again - Sorry I have just come across this response and there was me asking you the same question again on another recent post. Huge apologies!
Your canon S95 compact point and shoot is taking some great close ups - I honestly thought you were using a DSLR they are that good. I have an entry level Olympus (the E420) and have the lens that came with the camera i.e. the 14-42mm lens, plus a telephoto zoom 70 - 300mm (a bit limited really as you have to be close to birds to get decent images and there is no image stablization) and I had a macro lens last Cmas. TBH I am a bit disappointed with the macro lens as I get just as good results with the 14-42mm lens. There again I may not be using the macro correctly and need to find time to read up about it!!! TBH I am very pleased overall with the Olympus although these days a lot of people seem to use Canon or Nikon DSLR's. I'll make some enquiries via a friend (who is on holiday at the moment) but they know far more about cameras than me and leave a comment for you re: compact cameras that are good at macro pics. But I really do think the photos you are taking with the canon are very good and I would be very pleased if my camera gave those results!!
Those are photos are incredibly beautiful of my favourite damselfly. Do you use a macro lens?
